How to Export a Travel Route Video from Your Photos

Define the output before exporting

A route video is not a slideshow of every photo. Start with the publishing goal: short-form platforms usually need a 9:16 vertical cut of 30–60 seconds, while a personal archive can use 16:9 with more context.

Build the short version before the full render. A shorter draft exposes pacing and route problems faster and is easier to correct.

Workflow from photos to exported route video

Use original files from the camera or phone album whenever possible. Images compressed by chat or social apps often lose GPS metadata and can create gaps in the route.

1. Choose original photos from one trip and confirm that they contain GPS coordinates and capture times.
2. Order them by capture time, inspect outliers, and remove dense duplicate bursts.
3. Set an overview, key stops, and a closing frame so the route remains readable.
4. Select the target aspect ratio and export a 30–60 second test clip.
5. Check that text, markers, and captions stay inside the safe area.
6. Render the full route only after the test clip looks correct.

Four checks before exporting the full route

Aspect-ratio mismatch can crop labels after publishing; long jumps between nearby timestamps reduce credibility; repeated bursts make the video feel frozen; sensitive stops can expose private locations.

Debug in the order of data, pacing, and style: fix coordinates and time first, then duration and waypoints, then captions, music, and filters.

Local processing and privacy before sharing

Remove or blur the first and last stops plus any long-term accommodation locations, and preview the opening and closing frames before publishing.
